Established in 1985, Dragon Vets was originally part of the Clark & Scott Veterinary practice. It moved across the courtyard in 1996 as Clark, Scott & Henfrey when a dedicated operating theatre, radiography and kennelling were added. The practice separated from Sheriffs Highway Veterinary Group in 2005, when Andrew and Julie Henfrey formed Dragon Veterinary Centre to offer high quality first opinion and dermatology referrals. The facilities were then expanded to include ultrasound scanning and video endoscopy.
A fire in the Spring of 2006, destroyed the roof of the southern half of the building but fortunately did not directly affect the practice. At the end of the six month rebuild an additional office unit was taken to allow room for the expanding staff and case load.
After a rigorous inspection by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons the practice was awarded Tier 2 Approved Practice status in 2006. This has been renamed to Small Animal General Practice. Re-inspections in 2011 and 2015 were successfully completed making Dragon Veterinary Centre the only accredited RCVS Small Animal General Practice in Washington.
